A danger driver supped between “four to six” pints before leading police on a 50mph chase down Yarm High Street.

Paul Hodgson, 29, had been released on licence during his four-year-four-month sentence for threats to ‘kill and burn’ his ex, when he accelerated away from officers who had indicated to him to pull over.

Teesside Crown Court heard that he was spotted by police at 3am on January 28 in his Berlingo van on the A66 travelling at 75mph, As he sped through Eaglescliffe and down Yarm High Street at 50mph, he ran straight into a stinger trap.
