A solution to a wrangle over number plate-capturing cameras could be in sight amid rising reports of anti-social behaviour and off-road bikes.

Town council meetings heard of people being “terrorised”, brazen bikers on Instagram videos, wheelie competitions and uprooted trees. A borough councillor has urged people to report crimes and incidents via Cleveland Police’s ‘Copa’ phone app.

Ingleby Barwick Town Council heard of new hope in the saga of cameras which had been installed at a cost of £14,000 but their number plate-capturing capabilities not activated following difficulties over permission needed from the Information Commissioner’s Office and Stockton Council.
