Resident tells Mount Leven appeal he offered his own land to solve ‘monstrosity’ roundabout problem

A resident has offered up his own land to help improve road safety on a roundabout which he branded a substandard “monstrosity”.

Thomas Howson spoke at an appeal hearing into proposals to build 215 homes on Mount Leven Farm, Leven Bank Road, Yarm. Developer Mandale Homes is appealing against Stockton Council’s refusal of the plans last December.

A government-appointed inspector Susan Hunt heard the appeal on Tuesday (July 12). One of the issues was whether the Mount Leven roundabout was safe or suitable for the proposed development. Mr Howson told the hearing: “That roundabout is illegally on the carriageway.
