Stockton Council stands by its decision to turn down the plans last December, while the developer says the council got it wrong and was not justified in refusing them.

Inspector Susan Hunt heard the appeal on Tuesday (July 11) after visiting the 12.6-hectare site. The appeal focused on whether the development of 180 houses and 35 bungalows on farmland would adequately meet the needs of older people, whether the Mount Leven roundabout is safe and suitable, and effects on road safety, the area’s character and appearance and green space.
