Yarm Town Hall £600k overhaul is ‘coming together’ as weather vane working for first time in 50 years

A town council chairman has said the public will be “amazed” with a refurbished historic town hall when it is finished.

Scaffolding has been removed from Yarm Town Hall to reveal a weather vane working for the first time in five decades and a repainted clock tower. It is part of a project to restore the the grade II listed High Street landmark then fit it out as a heritage centre and learning area.

Now a title has been revealed for an exhibition project about the town’s history – ‘An Island In The River’ – though more details are still under wraps. And organisers have called for volunteers to get involved in running the centre.
